South Shore Controls Video

A controls company that retrofits someone else's machine is easy to miss. The customer sees their own press. They do not see the partner who made it talk to the business. South Shore Controls' video starts with that partner named out loud. MAGNET introduces them as the company that installs Industry 4.0 and automation for clients whose equipment has to be updated if they are going to stay competitive, in Northeast Ohio and beyond. Then a partner at South Shore puts the shop on the map. Mentor, Ohio. A 35,000-square-foot facility they built. Fifty employees, and the company says 30 percent of them are degreed engineers. The relationship with MAGNET is long enough that he describes the two as almost one in how they communicate. The work he wants a buyer to remember is the job other people turn down. Retrofit a machine until it is Industry 4.0 ready. Smart sensors, a controls upgrade, and often the network first, done so it can grow, so the plant floor can talk to the business and the customer can get data and metrics out of the machines. They do not leave at startup. Manuals, training, and on-site support stay with the project. Another engineering firm hiring Beacon for this kind of video is buying a way to be seen inside work that carries someone else's name. A partner can make the introduction. A principal has to say how big the shop is and which jobs they will take. The close is the thing a plant manager is actually buying. Data out of the machine, and someone who stays after the install. South Shore did not need a list of robot brands. They needed the retrofit to sound like the product. That is what this video is for.

[00:00.000] Hello, I'm at South Shore Controls today, a key partner for Magnet. [00:13.760] They help us with installing Industry 4.0 and automation solutions for our clients. [00:20.780] This is very important because many of our clients in the region have equipment that [00:26.320] needs updated so that they can be competitive and sustainable not only in Northeast Ohio [00:32.340] but in the nation. [00:34.380] Some of the applications that we work with on South Shore include collaborative robots, [00:39.720] optical inspection of parts, automatic feed systems, Industry 4.0 such as data logging, [00:46.400] data upload and other techniques, and also integration into ERP systems. [00:51.700] These are key Industry 4.0 applications that we work with small manufacturers on to upgrade [00:58.560] and make them competitive. [00:59.860] Hello, my name is John Ossek and I'm one of the partners here at South Shore Controls. [01:04.860] We reside in wonderful mentor, Ohio. [01:08.260] We are in a 35,000 square foot new facility that we built. [01:13.780] We have 50 employees, the majority of our employees are technically capable. [01:20.660] We have 30 percent of our force which is degreed engineers and the engineers we have [01:27.540] are mechanical, chemical, electrical engineers. [01:31.980] Magnet and South Shore's relationship goes back many years. [01:35.380] We're very much aligned with what we provide customers out in the field. [01:41.420] Working with Magnet is a great experience because they have so much depth in their engineering [01:47.960] and also the number of projects that they've worked on in the past. [01:53.480] So we have a very good relationship from a standpoint that we're almost one from a standpoint [01:59.920] of our communication and our ability to work together. [02:03.960] Here at South Shore Controls we really enjoy solving customer problems. [02:07.160] I think that's one of the areas we really pride ourselves on is digging in and doing [02:13.040] challenging projects that others may turn away. [02:16.240] In that we specialize in retrofitting equipment to get it industry 4.0 ready or up to the [02:23.120] industry 4.0 standards. [02:25.440] It may be installing smart sensors or doing a complete controls upgrade and then also [02:31.400] we specialize in upgrading and doing network controls. [02:35.640] So step one of a big project may be actually that the network needs upgraded and we do [02:41.980] that in a safe way and plan for future expansion and be able to get the plant level to talk [02:48.860] to the business level so that they can get data out of their machines and metrics to [02:57.580] make better decisions about their business and their equipment. [03:01.180] And we do full support and training of those projects that we do for our customers including [03:06.020] manuals and on-site services to tweak and keep with the life of the project.
