Manufacturing Careers Discovery Website Video Version 2

A person who might work in a plant will not start on a careers site just because the menu is there. This video is the front door of a Manufacturing Careers Discovery website. It runs about three minutes. The speaker welcomes people who are starting out, people who have been working and are not sure the path is right, and people pushed off a previous path. He says the site holds videos and a way to reach a team and partners. He talks about teachers and a grandfather who made manufacturing sound like a life, not a fallback. He names the kinds of work the site is built around: machining, welding, industrial maintenance, automation, and robotics. He says the community has manufacturers and education partners. He tells the viewer to notice the moment something looks interesting. He says that conversation can lead to training and to a job the video describes as starting at $15 or $20 an hour, and to a career where the pay and the skill keep moving. That pay line is what the video says. Another organization hiring Beacon for this kind of video is buying the welcome a website cannot do with a list of links. A workforce group, a college, or an employer partnership needs the next applicant to feel spoken to before they click. A brochure lists programs. This video asks the viewer to picture themselves in one. They did not need another page of job titles. They needed a person to say why a viewer should look. That is what this video is for.

[00:00.000] Hi, and welcome to our Manufacturing Careers Discovery website. We're really excited to have built this tool for you. We're looking to give you an experience, an opportunity to explore, to get excited about manufacturing. Whether you're trying to figure out the start of your career, or maybe you've been working for a while and aren't sure if what you've been doing is right for you, or this COVID-19 situation is forcing you to step away from a previous path, we hope that the information [00:33.880] on this website will spark your curiosity and imagination of a new fulfilling career for you. We've collected a whole bunch of great videos and content to arm you with the information you need to decide whether manufacturing is for you, and also a way to connect you with our team and partners to help you on that path. Early in my career, I was lucky to have a couple teachers and a grandfather who told me about their experiences in manufacturing. They shared with me what they loved about it. It ignited a love and an excitement in me about making things, being a part of a team [01:06.520] that creates products, robots, machines, all sorts of things. It really turned my path towards figuring out what part of manufacturing fit me best, and what education and training I needed to get into it, and be successful. We're here to play that influence in your life. With this website, we can help with the first few steps in that path. We're hoping to share some things that get you excited, we're hoping to ask a few questions that may intrigue you, and we're hoping to be your guide and connect you personally to someone who can help you figure out your strengths, how your experiences in the past can help you [01:41.560] get a great job in the manufacturing industry. We can show you how your passions and interests lead you into a training program that makes you the best candidate that manufacturers can hire. Whether machining, welding, industrial maintenance, automation, and robotics, you're lucky to live in a community that is strong in manufacturing, and has the education partners to help prepare you for those jobs. Manufacturing is growing, and needs great people. People that are excited and eager to learn, who want to be a part of a team that is passionate about what they're doing, whether you'd be making car parts, airplane parts, or products [02:17.000] that you and your family will buy on the shelf at the store, maybe your story starts right here. Maybe you see something in one of these videos that raises your eyebrows. Pay attention to that eyebrow raise, that voice in your head that says, that's pretty cool. It may just be the start of a conversation that leads you to some training, to a job that starts at $15 or $20 an hour with a great company, to a career where you continue to learn more, earn more, and work in a job that you love.
