Someone landing on an about page already knows the company name. What they do not know is who started it, or why a neighbor would send them there. A paragraph under a logo rarely gets that far.
This video is that about page, said out loud. The founder starts with his own hands. He says that at 13 he worked with a custom home builder in Vermont and found carpentry there. He was an apprentice, then a journeyman, working toward a degree in applied science and carpentry. He says the lessons were hard work, integrity, customer satisfaction, and structures that would last. He says he started Dream Decks in 2009 so families would have outdoor space they use together. He describes the crew as adventurers, craftsmen, fathers, husbands, sons, and people who like being outside, and he says he hires the whole person, not someone who only clocks in. He says they take their time, use quality materials, stand behind the work, and sweat the small details. The design visit, he says, is a chance to learn how the family lives and how they want to have people over, and then to pick colors and a design that fit. Two customers follow. One couple says friends sent them. About two weeks later someone came out with a full portfolio, and when the deck was finished they knew the choice was right. Another couple says they had already talked to four other deck companies. They say Dream Decks was less than those companies, and the only one that would curve the end of the deck and use just two beams underneath, so the view of the woods stayed clear. They say the beam was custom-engineered and covered in cedar, and that the deck raised the value of the property. Those lines are the customers, in the video. The founder ends on the smile when someone walks outside and sees the work, and on listening well and delivering well. This cut stops on thank you. It does not read the website.
Another contractor hiring Beacon for this kind of video is buying an about page that a person will actually sit through. The site can still list services. This is the video that tells who is coming to the house, before anyone asks for a price.
Dream Decks did not need a second slogan. They needed the founder and two customers on one video, for the page where people go to decide if they trust the company. That is what this video is for.

[00:00.000] Ever since I was a young boy, I've always loved working with my hands.
[00:04.000] There was a freedom and joy I had building things and seeing them being used.
[00:09.000] When I was 13 years old, I was given an opportunity to work with a custom home builder in the state of Vermont.
[00:14.000] It was there that I discovered my passion for carpentry,
[00:17.000] and any day that I could hammer a nail or cut a board was just a great day.
[00:22.000] Over the next several years, I worked as an apprentice and then a journeyman carpenter,
[00:26.000] honing my skills and working on large projects as I worked towards a degree in applied science and carpentry.
[00:32.000] All through my journey, I learned about hard work, integrity, customer satisfaction,
[00:37.000] and how to build safe quality structures that would last.
[00:40.000] There's something inside all of us that wants to create and work with our hands,
[00:44.000] and I just couldn't get enough.
[00:46.000] So in 2009, I started DreamDeafs to help families build their dreams and create outdoor spaces that families could enjoy together,
[00:54.000] because that's what makes me come alive.
[00:57.000] I love using the gifts I've been given to design truly one-of-a-kind DreamDeafs that makes a statement of craftsmanship and artistry.
[01:24.000] Over the years, I've built a team of incredible people who share the same vision and have the same passion as I do.
[01:35.000] They're adventurers, craftsmen, fathers, husbands, sons, and outdoor enthusiasts.
[01:41.000] It's an honor to work alongside of people who care about serving others as I do.
[01:45.000] When I look for people to join our team, I consider the whole person, their story, their life, and not just a person who clocks in every day.
[01:53.000] It's about finding the right fit and having the same passion as I do.
[01:57.000] We take our time and do things right the first time, and use quality materials, and we stand behind our work.
[02:04.000] We pay attention to the smallest of details that help bring your deck to life.
[02:09.000] We want to give people a setting for creating amazing memories outdoors with their families,
[02:14.000] a place where the rest of the world just fades away, and the beauty of the present moment is forever etched in their memory.
[02:21.000] When we show up at your home and start the custom design process, we're on a quest.
[02:25.000] A quest to find out the rhythm of your lifestyle, your wants and needs, and how you want to entertain your family or guests.
[02:31.000] We listen to the ways you want to enjoy your outdoor space, and help you pick the colors and the design that will work for you.
[02:40.000] My husband and I, we were considering tearing off our old deck, and we wanted a new deck.
[02:46.000] And our friends had just built a home, and they had people over, and we were out on their deck,
[02:52.000] and we complimented on how awesome their deck was.
[02:56.000] And he referred us to Dream Decks, and they came out approximately two weeks later,
[03:02.000] and he had a complete portfolio, an extensive portfolio, and showed us all of his ideas.
[03:08.000] They had passion for what they were doing. They were extremely professional,
[03:13.000] and by the time that the deck was finished, we knew that we absolutely made the right decision with Dream Decks.
[03:20.000] When my wife and I needed to build a second story deck on the back of our new home,
[03:24.000] we actually had interviewed four other deck companies before hiring Dream Decks.
[03:29.000] Dream Decks was not only less than the other companies,
[03:33.000] but they were the only company that would put a curve at the end of the deck that we wanted,
[03:38.000] and they were the only company that would just utilize two support beams in the lower section of the deck.
[03:44.000] We have a great view of the woods from down below our deck,
[03:48.000] and we didn't want a bunch of columns going all the way around, blocking that view.
[03:52.000] So they actually custom engineered a support beam to take care of that, and they covered it with cedar.
[03:59.000] It's absolutely beautiful. So not only is the deck gorgeous, but it's raised the value of our property as well.
[04:06.000] When the customer comes out of the house and sees what we just built and has that big smile on their face,
[04:11.000] that's just the best moment of my day.
[04:13.000] It sounds so cliche to say under promise and over deliver, but that's why we're in business.
[04:18.000] To listen well and deliver well, and Dream Decks will always do that.
[04:35.000] Thank you.
