A machine that still needs development does not sell itself. A buyer, a graduate, and a regional partner all hear "not finished" and wait for someone else to go first.
Center Street Technology's video is the company refusing to wait. It says what it is, a large hybrid additive manufacturing company in Youngstown, Ohio, combining design and simulation software with material science, controls, and automation, so a manufacturer can make what traditional methods could not. It says where the people come from. Local schools, people who trained somewhere else, and people already working in the field. It names the support the company says it could not have done the work without: MAGNET, America Makes, and the Youngstown Business Incubator, for money, engineering, and program help. The machine itself is tied to the region's manufacturing history, with engineering help from MAGNET on parts that brought it to life. Then the video says the quiet part. Others do not have a machine like this because it is not a trivial task. Material processing, software, and connectivity are still open problems. The work they are in the middle of is measuring the critical processes and the part as it is made, and fusing that into the database the technology still needs. The close is how they say they get there. Listen to the customer. Integrity, perseverance, and growth that stays organized.
Another company hiring Beacon for this kind of video is buying a way to make unfinished work sound like the reason to pay attention. Name the partners who make a region credible. Tell a recruit which door they would walk through. Let the hard technical problem be the point, not a footnote.
Center Street did not need a finished-machine brochure. They needed the hard part to sound like the advantage. That is what this video is for.

[00:00.000] Center Street Technologies is a large hybrid additive manufacturing company based in Youngstown,
[00:15.240] Ohio.
[00:16.240] We combine advanced manufacturing software, meaning engineering and design software,
[00:21.040] with modeling and simulation software.
[00:23.640] We combine that with material science and industrial controls and automation to create
[00:28.920] value for our customers.
[00:48.680] Additive manufacturing is such a disruptive technology because it provides a manufacturing
[00:53.080] platform that digitally combines the concept and desire of manufacturers to manufacture
[00:58.400] those items that were previously unimaginable because of traditional manufacturing technique.
[01:04.960] At Center Street, there are three primary sources for talent.
[01:08.640] Number one, recent graduates from local schools, universities, career and technical centers
[01:14.360] and high schools that have an interest in this technology.
[01:18.160] Number two, graduates from non-local schools that have taken the coursework to prepare
[01:22.480] them for a career in additive manufacturing.
[01:25.700] And number three, those that are currently working in this field or a related field and
[01:30.300] are interested in joining a project such as ours.
[01:33.500] By developing and deploying this technology in Northeastern Ohio, it gets us in the game
[01:38.260] and gives us the advantage of early participation of a technology that will be around for a
[01:43.180] long time and only improve as it scales and becomes more mature.
[01:47.980] We've had tremendous support from regional organizations such as Magnet, America Makes
[01:53.220] and the Youngstown Business Incubator.
[01:55.860] They've provided financial, engineering and programmatic support that without such we
[02:01.020] would not have been able to accomplish what we have.
[02:04.060] The thing that sparked our idea for a very large hybrid additive manufacturing machine
[02:09.020] is we found it to be a comfortable fit with our industrial manufacturing history.
[02:14.020] We received engineering help from Magnet in the design, fabrication and manufacturing
[02:18.740] of several parts that are essential to the machine and together we brought this machine
[02:23.860] to life.
[02:25.300] The reason Center Street has a machine like this and others don't is simply because it's
[02:29.860] not a trivial task.
[02:31.940] There's a lot of development still required to obtain the potential of very large scale
[02:36.140] additive manufacturing.
[02:38.180] Material processing, design and manufacturing software, connectivity are a few of the challenges
[02:43.380] we are addressing right now.
[02:45.980] The differentiating technology we are in process of integrating is real time institute
[02:51.020] measurement of all critical processes and part data and fusing that data to create the
[02:57.220] required database that will be used to leapfrog the current state of the technology.
[03:02.820] We pride ourselves in listening to our customers and don't sleep until we develop the technology
[03:07.500] that meets their requirements.
[03:09.700] Because of our culture here at Center Street we treat others with integrity and respect.
[03:14.460] We persevere in response to adversity and we strive to grow in an organized manner.
[03:19.780] Because of this we are able to be innovative and leading edge technology developers.
